How to Easily Frame a Builder-Grade Mirror

You know those plain, builder-grade mirrors that come with a lot of homes, right? Our home had a few of those not-so-pretty things when we bought it and I couldn't seem to find a great option to replace them. When Frame My Mirror asked me to try one of their products, I was really excited because I knew they would have the perfect solution for our guest bathroom, which I began to update last year.
The reason for the "mini" makeover in this bathroom is that we didn't quite see the need to completely gut this space. If this was our "forever" home, then we totally would. But it's not, so we won't. :)
This was the state of our guest bathroom upon purchasing our home. Not exactly my style.
I painted the cabinets and added hardware, a new shower curtain, etc., to brighten up the space. I wrote about this phase of the bathroom updates in a previous post.
The mirror still stuck out like a sore thumb, though, and that's the part we're focusing on today! Here's how easy it was to select, assemble and attach the frame from Frame My Mirror to the standard mirror on our wall. On Frame My Mirror's website, you are walked through a series of choices to make regarding your existing mirror. Just measure, input the length and width, and state whether or not there are clips holding your mirror to the wall and what kind, if so. There are many different styles, shapes and colors to choose from!
After ordering, I received my package quickly and just followed the simple instructions!
Ensure that the pieces you ordered are the right lengths for your mirror by holding them up to it and then lay them out on the floor in the shape it should be. You can definitely do this all by yourself, just like I did. Although, if you're on the shorter side, it might be easier to solicit a little help to mount the frame. ;)
Coat the edges with a small amount of glue and keep a wet rag handy so that any excess glue does not stick on the frame after pushing the edges together. Follow the rest of the instructions - all you'll need to have handy is a hammer and wet rag and maybe something to level out your frame if you choose one with a beveled edge.
Once dried, I peeled off the sticky coating from the adhesive and hoisted the frame up to the mirror (yes, all by myself) and pressed, making sure it was level and even.
I bet you can guess what needs to be updated next in this room! I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't particularly care for this late 90's style faucet, ceramic towel bar and "Hollywood" lights ;)
