I pinned it, I stalked it, I envisioned it. Now, I just had to find it!! An over-sized, round mirror, that is, to go above the console table in our foyer. For months I sifted through online sales, perusing every round mirror that ever existed. The moment I thought I had found "the one", I would read the details only to discover that the mirror was puny. Of course, the price was too good to be true! That's when I finally shifted my focus to Craigslist. It took a month or two before I laid eyes on it. It was hideous. But it was oh so perfect.

An hour and twenty dollars later in a Walmart parking lot, my husband made the exchange for the 40 inch round mirror and brought it home to me. I chose one of the colors in my chalk paint stash - a dark, warm gray color that sort of matches our front door. It hardly took two coats of quick-drying paint to cover the frame's gaudy surface. There were just a couple of small marks that looked like a burn or stain of some kind, but I decided to hang it anyway and see how it looked.

A little duct tape around around the edges of the mirror helped to keep the paint on the frame and off the glass.

I drilled a hole high above our console so that my husband, who is about 6'7", could see in the mirror, too. Thankfully, I was able to drill into a stud because that thing was heavy! My other "stud" made sure to tell me that he didn't care what I put there, as long as his head didn't "look chopped off". Ha! Deal!

A candid expression that says, "I'm glad I can see my head in this mirror!". (Please disregard the bad lighting and blurriness in all of the "before" photos. My waterproof phone case really doesn't help with clarity.)

This baby was heavy, but I hung it all by myself on a doubled-up piece of wire. I used a bar stool to rest it on while I centered it below the screw I had already inserted. It's been hanging for over a year now and not a single person has noticed those two stains! And now that you're privy to my secret, don't you go looking for them, either!! :P

For $20 and a couple coats of paint, my Craigslist find has served us well! Happy hunting!
