Simple DIY Christmas Present Throw Pillow

I accidentally decided I would turn my throw pillows into "presents" when I laid some ribbon down on my sofa and realized I did an impeccable job of picking out my latest lumbar pillow from HomeGoods. I just knew that clearance find had "holidays" written all over it!

As it turns out, my Christmas tree ribbon from last year perfectly matches the aforementioned new lumbar pillow and I thought it would look lovely wrapped around the white throw pillows that accompany it on our living room sofa.

I'll admit that this room isn't used all that often, and we don't have any tiny humans to tear off the ribbons and mash the pillows into the corners of the couch. You know what I mean, right? :D So really I didn't see the harm in letting these pillows be more for looks than for laying on this season. ;) Update: I have tested out the pillows and they re-poof very easily, even with the ribbon on them, so they should be tiny human-friendly, just don't use them in a pillow fight.  *Update: large husbands can smash this pillow and obsessive wives can totally re-poof it into it's original beautiful form. You can take my word for it. ;)*

To karate chop or not to karate chop your throw pillows!? That is the question! And my answer is "always chop!". Right where you'd make that little indent in the top of the pillow is where I aligned my ribbon and tied it just tight enough to keep its shape. I tied a small knot on the lower half of the back side of the pillow so that it can't be seen from the side. I should also mention that I only buy down/feather filled pillows because they always poof back into perfect shape. IKEA has very inexpensive options for those of you that are lucky enough to have one in driving distance! They don't sell most of their pillows or covers online.

And that's a wrap! (Pun intended.) Shortest and sweetest blog post ever, don't ya think?

I've linked up some great options for  inexpensive white throw pillows and inserts, and also some gold pillows if you aren't into the DIY route. ;) Enoy!
