Cheers to a New Chapter!

I have some exciting, yet bittersweet, news to share with you all today! My husband and I have been talking about where our next home might be for the past couple of years because we knew our current (and first) home would not be our forever home. As much as we love certain things about our current home, our desire to have our boat in our backyard instead of in a slip down the road kept growing. So, after just a couple months of looking, we found a house that we are excited to soon call home!

So, cheers to new adventures and a new house to fill with “summer!” ;)

The lovely ladies at Pineapples Palms, Too were so sweet and sent us our very first house warming gift! These matching crystal stemless wine glasses were engraved with our new home coordinates and the cutest little anchors! The designs are completed by Jennifer, who is the third generation glass engraver in her family! You can also find her by her Instagram handle @glassengravingbyjennifer. Isn’t that such a cool house warming gift idea!?

There were a LOT of differences to mull over and wrap my mind around as we sought a home much closer to the beach and with boat access in our backyard. Currently, our home is on just under half an acre, but water does take up a significant portion of the yard. Across the water is a preserve of lovely tall pines (I’m sure you’ve seen or heard me posting about my love for them if you follow along on Instagram @housefullofsummer!) and NO neighbors looking in our windows! That was a huge selling point for me as we looked for our first home together, over 4 years ago. I love the privacy and nature surrounding our current house.

The new house is on a smaller lot, but the layout makes the backyard feel pretty spacious. It is situated in a very small neighborhood that began development to be a boating community off the intracoastal waterway in the 50s. We will be in the Jacksonville area, just two miles from the beach. There are only a handful of small canals in this neighborhood, so pickings can be a little slim! I soon realized that after scouring for sale listings multiple times a day. With a basic understanding of economics, you know that this means a higher price tag for much less square footage. We were willing to make that trade off, but I won’t say it wasn’t difficult to come to terms with at first! I’ll definitely be blogging about that in more detail later!

For now, I am staying completely busy with the renovations that are underway at the new house and just maybe sipping quite a bit of wine out of my cute new glasses! Ha! I’ve been going crazy looking for the best deals on lighting, tile, fixtures, flooring, you name it! I cannot wait to start sharing some of my design plans with you! I hope you’ll enjoy this transition as much we do and that you’ll continue to follow along and be inspired!

Hint: It’s one of the four below. ;) Leave your guess in the comments and I’ll be revealing my choice in the next post where I’ll be talking about my inspiration for the interior design of our new home!
