Guest Bedroom Makeover {Just in Time for Christmas}

I finally revamped our guest bedroom just in time for Christmas! I was pretty indecisive about this space for a while and I think the fact that I started decorating it in the fall influenced some of my decisions. You’ll see what I mean when you check out the color scheme. ;)

To start, I’ll show you what this room looked like from before we renovated it and after we moved in.

You can read all about our LVP flooring in a previous post.

Why I Chose Waterproof LVP Flooring and What You Should Know Before Purchasing

I wanted to try something different in our “new” house, so I traded out the blue and white for an earthier color palette. The first thing I purchased for this room is the headboard in beige. I got a heck of a deal on this one. It came with removable legs, which is exactly what I needed, since I was mounting it to the wall at the appropriate height for the raised bed frame. The reason our bedframe is so high is because it gives us additional storage underneath it. With hardly any closet space in our 1970’s home, it seems pretty essential to us.

Next, I found this beautiful fringed rug with green detail. Shocker! I added COLOR to this room and I’m very happy with it! Since I’m a huge fan of neutrals, I used one of my white quilts (in King size to hang over the queen mattresses far enough) and then added a fleece blanket at thick faux fur throw at the end of the bed.

My favorite flocked pencil tree sits neatly in the corner of the room. I’m a firm believer that if you can squeeze it in, adding a Christmas tree to the bedroom is so cozy and romantic! Additionally, I added a mini table top tree to each nightstand.

The nightstands are from our old master bedroom, as are the bamboo lamps that I found on Craigslist.

I should mention that I have not yet replaced the old white ceiling fan with a fun new flush mount light. I did order one online but it came damaged. I’m returning it and hunting for something else. Also, I placed a large woven tray above the headboard, simply because it is left over from our last house. It works for now, but I can envision swapping it out for some framed art.

Here is a our guest room at night. I thought it would be helpful to see how lighting changes the color of the decor in here.

A large basket is perfect for keeping different sleeping pillows for guests to choose from (no one likes waking up with a neck ache!) and to toss the bed pillows in at night. My absolute favorite throw pillow and bed pillow inserts are linked here. Every guest has commented on them! When covered with a velvety soft pillow cover, they feel like hugging a big squishy teddy bear!
