Cozy Christmas Nights by the Fireplace

This is something that doesn’t happen every day in Florida, even during the winter months! With lows in the 30’s, I thought I’d go ahead and document the rare opportunity we had to get cozy by the fireplace! Since Miss Summer didn’t quite get all of the spotlight she deserved in my recent posts, it is only fair that she takes center stage in this one. I hope you enjoy our cozy fireplace and Summer’s expressions of excitement as much as I did! ;)

In A Charming Southern Christmas Home Tour {Part 2}, I revealed our new family room rug from Orian Rugs! I purchased the 9x13 size and I promise you it is the most durable white rug you will find! Not to mention it’s absolutely gorgeous and looks so expensive! How is it so durable? It’s an indoor/outdoor rug with thick fibers and textures. Of course, you still don’t want muddy paws trekking across it, but that’s why I leave a towel by the back door for rainy days and cleaning doggy paws! Seriously, it only takes 30 seconds to swipe paws, so it’s practically the same as just removing your shoes when you come inside. Not that big of a deal!

We have a gas fireplace, so once I got the pilot lit, all you have to do is flip the switch on and off to control it. I’m convinced that a quick call to Dad and a simple YouTube video search is all you need to make anything happen these days. ;)

Lighting up the corner by our media stand is the most versatile flocked pencil tree. You can see it in the daylight in my home tour, but I think it looks so beautiful at night! Look, even Summer loves to sit and bask in the glow.

Okay, fine. Maybe I asked her to sit there with a promise of baby carrots (her favorite treat) for posing like a good girl.

If that sweet face could talk, what do you think she’d be saying? I’m guessing she’s either annoyed that I just wiped off every toe since it was raining outside and surely she kicked up some dirt running through the wet grass, or maybe she’s looking at me like I’m nuts for making her wear a scarf indoors. Either way, I think this is just photography gold. But I might be a little biased. Ha :)

If you’ve followed along for any period of time, you probably caught on that I’m a huge fan of pretty and fluffy throws. This tassel throw is one of my faves and it’s circulated back into the family room for the holidays.

The gold magnolia sprays really sparkle with the glow of Christmas lights and the fire roaring. What a perfect setting to cozy up with some sappy Christmas movies and a glass of wine! Well, of course that’s exactly what I did after I got done photographing Miss Summer in her lovely winter scarf. Clearly, she was ready for me to turn on the sappy movies and toss her some baby carrots!

If you’ve thought about whether or not to get one of these gorgeous boucle rugs, I am sure you will not be disappointed when you see it in real life! You really can’t go wrong! If you have any questions at all about my decor or my darling pooch, please feel free to ask away in the comments below or shoot me an email at housefullofsummer@gmail.com!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
