A Charming Southern Christmas Home Tour {Part 2}

It’s time for Part II of An Elegant Christmas Home Tour Blog Hop!! Last week I showed you the foyer, dining room and living room. This week, I’ll be continuing the tour past the foyer, as seen below, and into the master bedroom on our first stop!

Master Bedroom

After bringing one of my pencil trees into the bedroom this year, I can’t believe I have gone my whole life without having a little festive tree in the bedroom during Christmas! It’s so cheerful and our bedroom gets darker during the winter months anyway, so the extra light is nice to have. The waffle blanket and pillow shams you may remember from my Casual Coastal Summer Bedding & Decor post a few months back. Some small changes easily turn this space into a wintry scene.

I kept this lovely cashmere tree pretty simple by decorating it with some glossy navy ball ornaments and silver snowflakes tucked in the branches. The navy ornaments are from Michael’s and continue the “deeper hues” theme that I mentioned in Part 1 of my home tour.

Additionally, I draped silver beaded garland around the tree for a little extra detail and shine. The tree skirt is actually just an extra navy chenille throw with tassels.

My pom pom slippers are cute and comfy. TJMaxx for the win. :)

I’ve gotten lots of questions on our master bedroom rug. It is actually a heck of a deal I found at Home Depot a couple years ago in the outdoor rug section! It does not feel like an outdoor rug at all. It’s really soft to walk on, but it sure does wear like an outdoor fabric! Summer loves to plop herself right on the edge of this rug and you know her light fur totally does NOT blend in! I’m vacuuming in here all the time, but it’s well worth having a dark color that doesn’t show stains and cleans easily! That’s real life with a dog and I know a lot of you can relate!

I keep this amazingly soft blanket on the foot of our bed because I always pull it up and use it at night now that the temps have dropped here in northeast Florida. Layers are always key!

I hung this Let’s Mistletoe garland over my bar cart last Christmas and I absolutely loved it there! But this year, I thought it would be really cute hanging above our bed for rather obvious reasons. ;)

Family Room

Next up is the family room and I can’t wait to show you the new rug I have in here!!

You might notice there’s a rather large (160 lbs to be exact) dog on this gorgeous white rug. Eek! My Summer girl waits patiently on the patio as I wipe her paws off on a rainy day, but besides taking the obvious steps to keep it clean, this rug is rather low maintenance because it’s an indoor/outdoor fabric! Pretty amazing, I know. Are you noticing a trend here?? Just give me all the outdoor fabric! :D I’ve done my fair share of trials and errors in the rug category, so check out The Best Rugs for Big Dogs {and Little Ones Too} for my advice on durable rugs!

This room is where we kick our feet up to watch TV and eat on the couch! Hey, at least I’m admitting it. ;) So, it just made sense to keep the decor a bit more casual. I decorated the mantel with a prelit garland, a couple of lanterns and some of my gold sprays that I introduced in my previous post, Southern Glam Christmas Decor.

The capiz shells you’re seeing on this flocked pencil tree are actually from my breakfast nook chandelier. I strung the leftover pieces into a garland and draped it above my bar cart last winter to help fill an empty space on the wall. I love re-purposing!

A metallic gold glam shell dish holds some pinecones from outside, a few ornaments and a starfish.

What a great feeling to have decorated “early” and have several weeks to kick your feet up and enjoy the fruits of your labor! That’s my motivation for decorating sooner than most people, but also because it gives me ample time to capture photos of my rooms and share them with YOU!

Lastly, we’ll close with a few photos of Miss Summer wondering what the heck I’m doing walking around taking pictures and why she’s not being asked to pose. (So then I asked her to pose.) Since she accidentally didn’t get included in my last few posts, I was sure to let her have a little bit of spotlight here. ;)

Summer received a brand new version of the same “mat” that she’s loved for years. It’s a life saver, guys, and it’s really affordable and huge! I let her chew her toys on it, and even bones on occasion; and it protects my rugs and makes her feel cozy. I think she’s happy that Santa came early for her this year. ;)

She’s ecstatic. You’ll just have to take my word for it. Haha!
